MLA Lakshman Savadi said, a programme to plant 25,000 saplings has been launched with the resolve to create a clean and beautiful environment in the taluk, and everyone should join hands.
He spoke after performing the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a dining hall and kitchen at the Maharshi Valmiki Adivasi Tribal Residential School in Yakkanchi village of the taluk, which will be built at a cost of 22 crore under the various development schemes for Scheduled Tribes.
Students from class 8 to 10 of every school in the taluk have been given the responsibility of adopting a sapling and nurturing it. First priority has been given to social welfare. backward class, and minority residential schools. A well-equipped laboratory has been sanctioned for the village government high school, he said.
This residential school, run by the Social Welfare Department, has 300 students studying and will be designed as a model. A sheet (roof) will be installed inside the old dormitory to prevent water from entering. he said.
