Eight months after her arrest, Saphna Naavi, a maternal aunt, has been re-arrested by the Belagavi police. Saphna Naavi and her mother were the prime suspects in the murder case of a four-year-old girl, Samriddhi Rayanna, whose body was found in a mortuary in May 2024.

Initially, Saphna Naavi was granted interim bail, but the police had filed a petition to cancel her bail after a post-mortem examination revealed that the infant's body had been subjected to blunt trauma. The police claimed that the infant's abdomen had been struck with a blunt object, leading to her death.

The police had been investigating the case and gathering evidence for the past eight months. The post-mortem examination report had provided the much-needed evidence to crack the case. With the cancellation of her bail, Saphna Naavi was re-arrested by the police on Tuesday.

Saphna Naavi had earlier denied any involvement in the crime, claiming that she had not harmed her nephew. However, the post-mortem examination report and other evidence collected by the police had revealed the truth, leading to her re-arrest.

The case has sent shockwaves throughout the nation, highlighting the importance of proper investigation and evidence collection in solving crimes. The police have been praised for their efforts in cracking the case and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
