The newly renovated Old Bus Stand was inaugurated on Sunday. The public will be able to get transport services from Monday at the high-tech bus stand.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi inaugurated the development work of the old bus stand under the Hubli-Dharwad Smart City project by lighting the lamp. Speaking later, he said that the old bus stand has been newly constructed and neatly maintained. The authorities should maintain it in a well-equipped manner.
The projects will have to be implemented with a development perspective in mind. In the wake of the development work of Hosuru Circle in the same month, residents will be shifted to other places. A sports complex is being built at a cost of Rs. 180 crore, and maintaining it properly has become a challenge. Urban transport, drinking water, local transport and electricity facilities should be given high priority. Thollanakere has also been developed under the Smart City project. The Indira Glass House Garden is deteriorating due to improper maintenance. Therefore, after the projects are launched, they should be maintained properly, he said.
Minister for Labour and District In-charge Santosh S Lad said, we need to work non-partisanly. Like Bangalore, the twin cities of Mangaluru, Belgaum, Hubli-Dharwad are growing. More emphasis needs to be placed on comprehensive development. The Rs 2,000 crore provided by the Central Government for 10 years. If the grant is given now, it will complement the development achievements. Hubballi-Dharwad cities will also develop. He also said that after the projects are inaugurated, the agencies should be given the opportunity to manage them completely.
