Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has emphasized the importance of proactive flood management rather than merely responding with relief efforts after disasters occur. Speaking at a Revenue Department progress review meeting held at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi, he urged officials to prioritize prevention strategies to mitigate flood damage and protect lives and livestock.

Minister Gowda stressed that in the event of floods, immediate steps must be taken to evacuate people and animals to safe locations. Preparations should be made well in advance to minimize harm. He called on all staff, including the Panchayat Development Officers (PDOs), to diligently engage in flood management activities.

He highlighted the critical role of taskforces formed in gram panchayats, insisting they act responsibly and take swift action to prevent damage. Village-level authorities must be vigilant and proactive, as negligence will not be tolerated.

The Minister also announced the launch of a Podimukta Grama Abhiyan campaign across the district, aimed at improving village administration and development. He urged prompt disposal of court cases at the Tahsildar and Sub-Divisional Officer levels and mentioned that facilities have been provided to village accountants to work locally within gram panchayats.

Furthermore, Minister Gowda directed that the distribution of land titles under revenue villages should be expedited. Eligible beneficiaries must be identified quickly, and Tahsildars should conduct field visits to convert remaining villages into revenue villages. All Revenue Department tasks must be completed within set deadlines and in ways that are convenient for the public.

The meeting was attended by MLC Nagaraj Yadav, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan, Zilla Panchayat CEO Rahula Shinde, Revenue Commissioner P Sunil Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Vijayakumar Honakeri, Deputy Divisional Officers, Tahsildars, and other Revenue Department staff.
