Minister Satish Jarkiholi on Sunday assured that the state government is committed to supporting the Jain community and will discuss the establishment of a Jain Development Corporation with the Chief Minister.
Speaking at the 103rd convention of the South India Jain Sabha in Harugeri, Raibag taluk, Jarkiholi praised the Sabha’s contributions in culture, education, health, agriculture, and employment.
Minister D. Sudhakar highlighted the community's minority status and stressed the need for a dedicated corporation to ensure access to government facilities. “The government is positive and will work toward creating the corporation with proper grants,” he said.
MLC Channaraja Hattiholi lauded the Sabha for empowering women through initiatives like the South India Mahila Parishad and Veera Mahila Parishad.
Religious heads including Jinasena Bhattarak Swamiji of Nandani and Lakshmisena Bhattarak Swamiji of Kolhapur were present, along with a host of political leaders—MLAs, former ministers, and youth leaders.
The event also witnessed a notable moment as Satish Jarkiholi and former MP Ramesh Katti, who were recently at odds over political control in Hukkeri taluk, sat side by side, appearing to set aside their differences during the conference.
