I have written a letter to the Chief Minister regarding the illegal mining issue because I want to serve the state and bring good name to our government, said Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK Patil.

While arriving for the birthday celebration of Minister NS Bosaraju, Patil spoke to the media at the Krishi University Guest House. He responded to the issue of writing a 7-page letter to the Chief Minister regarding illegal mining.

I have written a long letter because I want to serve the state and bring good name to our government. I have written it in the interest of the state and our people. I have already shown the letter to the Chief Minister. He expressed confidence that he will take it seriously, he said.

More than 12,000 cases were registered, of which only 7 percent are being investigated. Out of 7 percent, 2 percent or 0.2 percent of the total cases, have been decided. There is no logical end to it. The government's money, the state's money, is 1.40 lakh crore rupees. Therefore, we have written a letter to the Chief Minister with the intention of considering it seriously, he said.

We have handed over 9 cases to the CBI. Out of which, they have sent 6 cases, leaving 3 cases, saying that we will not do them. Most of the cases have not been investigated by the SIT. We have raised the extent of the damage in the cabinet sub-committee, what the Lokayukta did, and what the extent of the damage will be during its subsequent period, said Minister Patil.
