Due to continuous rains in the Western Ghats region, a temporary road bridge near Kusamalli village in Khanapura taluk has been completely washed away. Due to this, the Belagavi-Chorla-Goa road has been closed again.
A new bridge is being constructed across the Malaprabha River near Kusamalli village. A temporary service road was constructed next to the bridge construction to facilitate vehicle traffic.
The torrential rains that fell on Saturday night have created chaos. The temporary road leading to the Arbhata area has been completely washed away by the rain. As a result, vehicular traffic has come to a complete standstill.
This road used to connect Goa from Belagavi via Chorla. Now, passengers travelling to Goa have to travel via Ramanagara.
A few days ago, the same temporary bridge was washed away due to a sudden rise in water levels due to heavy rains, disrupting traffic from Belagavi to Goa via Chorla.
