Heavy rain in Dakshina Kannada district

The Meteorological Department has declared a red alert in the coastal district, with heavy rain expected in   district after Saturday afternoon.

Heavy rains are lashing district, disrupting normal life. The city has been receiving heavy rain since afternoon. Low-lying areas in various parts of the city are flooded. The service roads below the city's Pumpwell Flyover are flooded, disrupting vehicular and pedestrian movement.

A bus broke down due to standing water on the road, and the public pushed the bus to the side of the road. The road at Padil Railway underpass was also flooded, obstructing vehicle movement. Artificial flooding in the city's car street caused water to flood the road, obstructing vehicle movement. Houses in low-lying areas of the city were flooded, and water entered the houses.

Although the Meteorological Department has declared a red alert in district for the past three days, there has been no heavy rain in the district. However, heavy rain has been falling since Saturday afternoon, and dense clouds have predicted more rain. A red alert has been issued in Dakshina Kannada district till the morning of June 16, and there is a high possibility of more heavy rain.
