Havaldar Ramesh, who recently returned to Shivamogga after serving in Punjab and the border region during Operation Sindoor against Pakistan, received a grand welcome today.

A native of Hasudi village, Ramesh has been serving in the Indian armed forces for 27 years. He arrived by train and was greeted warmly at the railway station by a large crowd, including HOPCOMS President Vijay Kumar, who garlanded him as a mark of respect. Ramesh’s family was also present to share in the joyous occasion.

Visibly emotional, Havaldar Ramesh expressed pride in his service and praised the Indian Army’s successful response during Operation Sindoor, which was launched following the attack on tourists in Pahalgam.

Currently posted at the Indian Air Force base in Punjab, Ramesh is part of the air defense team responsible for safeguarding the border stretch from Amritsar to Ferozepur. “Our primary objective is to intercept and neutralize any missile threats originating from Pakistan,” he said.

Reflecting on his long career, Ramesh said, “I have proudly served for 27 years at the border, and I am deeply honored by this warm welcome from my hometown. I thank all my seniors, juniors, and well-wishers for their support.”

The grand reception underscored the community’s respect and gratitude for the brave soldier’s dedicated service to the nation.
