Allegations of medical negligence have surfaced following the tragic death of a 7-year-old girl, Saanvi, from Nelloor village in Malavalli taluk, at MIMS Hospital. In response, the district administration has taken the matter seriously and formed an expert committee to investigate the incident.

The committee, constituted by the Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kumar, includes Dr. Pradeep, Head of the Department of Pediatrics, Mysore Medical College, as the Chairman. Other members include Dr. Mahesh, Head of Bone and Joint Care, BG Nagar; Dr. Balakrishna, Head of Surgery; Dr. Chetanananda, Head of Anesthesia; and Dr. Somashekar, District Tuberculosis Control Officer, who will serve as the Member Secretary.

Dr. Kumar has instructed the committee to conduct a detailed inquiry and submit a report within 15 days, citing the seriousness of the issue.

A review meeting was held at MIMS Hospital by MLA Ganiga Ravikumar and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kumar, where officials gathered information about the circumstances surrounding the girl's death.

MLA Ganiga stated, “We have received different versions—one from the doctors and another from the parents. A medical team from Mysore KR Hospital will look into the matter. MIMS officials claim there was no negligence, but we must uncover the truth. It is essential to determine whether the death was due to a health issue or medical negligence. Hence, an impartial investigation is underway.”
