Murdeshwar
A fisherman died, another is missing, and two others swam to safety after their fishing boat capsized in the Arabian Sea near Murdeshwar in Uttara Kannada district on Thursday morning.
Murdeshwar police identified the deceased as Madhav Harikant (45), and the missing person as Venkatesh Annappa Harikant (28). Anand Annappa Harikant and another fisherman managed to reach the shore safely by swimming.
All four were professional fishermen who ventured into the sea in a boat named Navagraha, owned by Janardhan Harikant.
Despite warnings about high tides, the fishermen entered the sea around 10 a.m. on Thursday. After traveling a few nautical miles, the boat capsized, throwing all four into the sea. A search operation is underway to locate the missing fisherman.
