The Davangere-Harihar Urban Development Authority (DHUDA) has finally got land to build a new layout. The authorities no longer have to worry about land for layout. Minister SS Mallikarjuna has informed the meeting that land has already been selected in two places. He has also hinted that apartments will be built for the middle class.
Even after several days of applying, the people were complaining that the government was not providing them with a site. They had already applied for a site at the DHUDA and were waiting. Land has been identified near Avaragere, Vaddanahalli in Davangere city for the layout.
Earlier, they had viewed lands in many places including Davangere city, Budal Road, Harihar, Amaravati. But no land was found for layout. Now, land has been identified for two layouts and the site will be allocated in a few days. It has also been decided to build fifty to one hundred flats in JH Patel Nagar and give them to the poor, said district in-charge Minister SS Mallikarjuna.
Years have passed without the DHUDA doing the layout. 20,000 people had applied saying that plots would be available at a lower price. The authority was facing the problem of land for layout. Farmers were hesitant to give land for layout. Some others have gone to court. Since they were not willing to give land, they had requested to give land in a 50:50 ratio. However, now the land has been finalised after looking at land near Avaragere and Vadnalli.
Farmers should give land to develop the sites and layouts. The authority has decided to give sites to the poor, middle class, wage laborers, and private bus workers in the land they get. DHUDA has not shown interest in doing layouts because private layouts were given a lot of encouragement during the BJP period. Minister SS Mallikarjun said, we are going to prepare layouts in 2-3 places to give to the common people. The officials have already seen the lands and marked them. The work of providing houses like apartments for the middle class people is also underway. Apartments will be ready in JH Patel Nagar. Now, we are going to do layouts for sites near Vadnahalli and Avaragere. These layouts will benefit the common people, the Minister said.
