The pending central share of about Rs 4,195 crore for centrally sponsored projects has not been released. In this regard, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the state MPs and Rajya Sabha members should try to bring the pending grants by urging the center. He told the media on Wednesday at the Vidhana Soudha.
The Chief Minister explained that he had already met the Prime Minister and the Union Finance Minister and submitted a request to provide the pending grants for centrally sponsored projects.
The state-level Disha Committee meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, which was formed to review the progress of centrally sponsored projects, was held on Wednesday.
There are about 67 centrally sponsored projects, and their progress has been reviewed. The share of the Centre and the State in the Centrally Sponsored Schemes is 50:50, 60:40, and 70:30. In Karnataka, Rs 46,859 crore is being spent on Centrally Sponsored Schemes.
In the year 2024-25, the State grant under the Centrally Sponsored Schemes is Rs 24960 crore, the Central grant is Rs 22, 758 crore, of which only Rs 18561 crore has been released from the Centre and Rs 4195 crore will not be released, he said.
Under the Centrally Sponsored Schemes where the State's share is high. 83 percent of the grant has been spent, and the officials have explained many problems including late release of grant from the Centre.
Hence, instructions have been given to the officials to spend 100 percent of the grant from the year 2025-26. In this regard, the officials and the committee members have been instructed to request the Centre to release the grant within the stipulated time, Siddaramaiah said.
