Rain fury continues in Uttara Kannada district. On the other hand, after the disaster of hill collapse near Shirur, a hill has also collapsed in Bergi in Kumta. A massive landslide has occurred on National Highway 66 in Bargi village of Kumta. As a result, the traffic on one side of the highway has been completely stopped and only one-way traffic has been allowed.
As a precautionary measure and in the interest of students due to widespread rains in the district, holiday has been declared for all schools and pre-university colleges in Bhatkal, Honnavar, Kumta, Ankola, Karwar, Shirsi, Siddapur, Dandeli, Yallapur and Zoida taluk on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner Lakshmipriya informed.
