SIDDAPUR – No new houses have been sanctioned by the state government in the last two years, and corruption has marred existing housing projects, alleged BJP Uttara Kannada District General Secretary Guruprasad Hegde Hartebile.

Speaking at a protest near Tarehalli-Kanasur Gram Panchayat, he said BJP had launched protests in 229 gram panchayats across the district over delays and irregularities in housing schemes. Hegde accused the government of allotting houses only to those who paid bribes. “Even Congress MLA B.R. Patil has raised concerns, stating that despite applying three times, he hasn’t received a house,” he added.

He claimed that dissatisfaction among Congress MLAs over the government's functioning and ministerial conduct highlights the seriousness of the issue.

Former Gram Panchayat Vice President Shashiprabha Hegde, former President Thimmappa Naik, former Taluk Panchayat member Mableshwar Hegde, and other local leaders including Veerabhadra, Malini Naik, Balarama Namdhari, Ganesh Naik, Lokesh Bhat, Narasimha Hegde, and Nagaraj Naik were present during the protest.
