New Delhi
On Wednesday, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia accused the BJP of submitting bulk applications to remove 22,000 voters’ names from the electoral rolls in seven constituencies ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Speaking at a press conference with Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, Sisodia claimed that the BJP, unable to defeat Arvind Kejriwal in elections, was resorting to unfair tactics. He alleged that BJP members and supporters had submitted mass applications for voter deletions, which he called a potential conspiracy. Sisodia expressed concern that the Election Commission was considering these applications, which he believed was dangerous.
Chadha also criticized the deletion applications, pointing out that the same people connected to the BJP had submitted multiple requests, in violation of the rule limiting one person to 10 applications a day. AAP, led by Kejriwal, plans to meet the Chief Election Commissioner to formally raise the issue. Meanwhile, the BJP continues to accuse AAP of facilitating voter inclusion for illegal immigrants, especially as the political heat intensifies ahead of the elections, with both parties aiming for control of Delhi.
