HAVERI
Haveri Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS) is achieving good growth by utilizing the available facilities in a short period of time. However, 161 Group-A posts, including lecturers, are vacant. Even after calling for applications, eligible candidates are hesitating to come to Haveri, said HIMS Dean and Director Dr MV Pradeep Kumar.
At the progress review meeting, he provided information along with documents about the progress of the institution. The salary fixed by the institution for lecturers is low. For this reason, even after calling for applications, no one is interested. The available lecturers are teaching the students. There are also vacancies in the district hospital, he said.
Responding to that, Minister Sharan Prakash said, if there is any scope for salary increase, let us know.
MP Basavaraj Bommai suggested, this is a model institution. The people of Haveri have high expectations. Good doctors should be trained here. Increase the salary on priority and invite applications.
A mobile app designed to make HIMS administration, academic information, and other documents available under one roof was launched at the meeting.
HIMS Principal Dr Anshkirana, District In-charge Minister Shivanand Patil, Directorate of Medical Education Director Dr BL Sujatha Rathod, Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Mahantesh Danammanavara, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Ruchi Bindal, District Superintendent of Police Yashoda Vantagodi were present.
