New Delhi: The ICC has announced a record prize pool of USD 5.76 million for the 2025 World Test Championship (WTC) final, with the winning team to earn USD 3.6 million. This is more than double the amount awarded in previous editions, reflecting the growing stature of the event.

The final will be played between Australia and South Africa at Lord’s on June 11. The runners-up will take home USD 2.16 million. India, finishing third, will receive approximately INR 12.31 crore.

Jay Shah, ICC Chairman, said the final would celebrate elite-level Test cricket, following a fiercely competitive WTC cycle. South Africa reached the final by winning series against Pakistan, West Indies, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. They also drew a home series against India and now aim for their first WTC title.

South Africa captain Temba Bavuma expressed pride in making the final, calling it a golden opportunity to win an ICC trophy. He emphasized the importance of Test cricket and said the team was excited to play at Lord’s.

Australia’s captain Pat Cummins said they were honored to defend their WTC title at Lord’s. With dominant wins over India, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka, Australia aims to become the first two-time WTC champions.
