The World Padel League (WPL) is set to return for its third season, scheduled from August 12 to 16 at the Nesco Center in Mumbai. After a successful debut in India earlier this year, the league is expanding from four to six teams, marking a major milestone in the sport’s growth across the country.

WPL co-founder Hemali Sharma expressed excitement about the expansion, calling it a major step for the sport. “Season 3 of WPL will set new benchmarks. India is quickly becoming a key growth hub for padel,” she said.

The Indian Padel Federation, led by President Sneha Abraham Sehgal, is supporting the event. Sehgal highlighted how WPL has raised the sport’s visibility, inspiring new players and investments in padel infrastructure. “The mix of global stars and Indian talent creates an ideal platform to develop the sport here,” she noted.

Padel, a fast-paced racquet sport combining elements of tennis and squash, is gaining popularity in India. The WPL’s unique mix of international flair and local participation has been key to its growing fan base.

The previous season concluded with SG Pipers Cheetahs winning the title after a thrilling final against Vernost Jaguars. With the addition of two new franchises, the upcoming edition is expected to be even more competitive and entertaining.

The five-day event will feature top padel athletes from around the world and is designed to attract both seasoned fans and newcomers. With expanded teams and bigger crowds, WPL Season 3 aims to deliver a thrilling sporting spectacle in Mumbai.
