Hockey India and the Tamil Nadu government have signed a key agreement to host the FIH Men’s Junior World Cup 2025, marking a major moment for Indian hockey. The MoU was signed Thursday at a ceremony in Chennai, where the official tournament logo was also launched.

The prestigious event will be held from November 28 to December 10 in Chennai and Madurai. For the first time, 24 international teams will participate, making it the most inclusive edition yet.

Tamil Nadu’s Deputy Chief Minister, Thiru Udhayanidhi Stalin, called it a proud moment for both the state and the country. “We will ensure world-class arrangements and hope to inspire a new generation of athletes,” he said.

Hockey India President Dr. Dilip Tirkey praised the collaboration, noting that this will be India’s fourth time hosting the event. “With 24 teams, this will be a historic tournament. Tamil Nadu has shown great commitment to hockey,” he added.

Also present were key officials from the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu and Hockey India, including Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh, who highlighted the growing global appeal of the sport. “This tournament celebrates youth and talent. The MoU reflects a shared promise to deliver a world-class event,” he said.

India has previously hosted the event in Bhubaneswar, Lucknow, and New Delhi. Now, with Chennai and Madurai stepping up, the 2025 edition is expected to set new standards for international junior hockey tournaments.
