Hockey player Pramod from Narwana, Haryana, has taken a big step in his career. The 25-year-old defender has been picked for the India A team’s European tour. This is his first time wearing India’s colours on an international stage, making his family and town proud.
He played for the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) team and joined three National Championships. His strong show at the 2025 Senior National Championships in Jhansi, where he helped Hockey Madhya Pradesh win silver, earned him the India A call-up.
When he saw his name on the squad list, the first thing Pramod did was call his mother to share the happy news. She has always been his biggest supporter, motivating him to chase his dreams.
Now training at the SAI Centre in Bengaluru, Pramod is learning a lot under coach Shivendra Singh. He says the coach is very supportive and helps the players understand new strategies and formations. Pramod feels happy interacting with senior players and learning new things every day.
Pramod’s goal is to perform well on the Europe tour and earn a spot in the senior team. “I always wanted to represent India,” he said. “Now I want to give my best and keep making my country proud.” The India A team will play eight matches against top European sides from July 8 to 20.
