Nagaland women win gold, Delhi men triumph

Nagaland women’s sepak takraw team won a historic gold medal in the quad regu event at the Khelo India Beach Games (KIBG) 2025 in Diu on Friday night. This win helped Nagaland finish in the top three in the overall medal list at any Khelo India games for the first time. Delhi’s men’s team also won gold in the men’s quad regu event by beating Manipur.

Nagaland ended with five gold, three silver, and five bronze medals at the games. Four gold medals were won in pencak silat. Only Manipur and Maharashtra had more silver medals than Nagaland.

The women’s final was very exciting. Nagaland beat Haryana 2-1. They won the first set 15-6 but lost the second 7-15. In the final set, Nagaland made a great comeback and won 15-11. The team captain, Seyiekhrieno Tepa, said she was very happy and thanked God, her family, coaches, and team.

Delhi’s men won the final easily against Manipur with a 2-0 score. The games were watched by many fans who cheered loudly during every rally.

Haryana’s women captain Monika said they made some mistakes but were glad to reach the final. Haryana also won gold in the women’s team trio and men’s double events.

Nagaland’s strong performance shows great promise for the future of sepak takraw in India.
