Indian athletes delivered a dominant performance at the Taiwan Open, bagging multiple gold medals on the final day of the international athletics meet. Vithya Ramraj, Rohit Yadav, Pooja, and Krishan Kumar emerged as the top performers, each clinching gold in their respective events.

Vithya Ramraj secured gold in the women’s 400m hurdles with a time of 56.53 seconds—her third-best performance of the season—earning vital ranking points for the upcoming World Championships. The three-time national champion from Tamil Nadu has been consistently clocking top timings, including 56.04s at the Federation Cup and 56.46s at the Asian Championship final.

In men’s javelin, Rohit Yadav won gold with a throw of 74.42m. He edged out Taipei’s Huang Shih-Feng (74.04m) and Cheng Chao-Tsun (73.95m), who took silver and bronze respectively.

The women’s 800m final saw a stunning run by Pooja, who not only won gold but also set a new championship record of 2:02.79s. Fellow Indian athlete Twinkle Chaudhary secured silver with a time of 2:06.96s.

Krishan Kumar mirrored Pooja’s success in the men’s 800m event, winning gold and setting another championship record with a time of 1:48.46s.

Additionally, Yashas Palaksha claimed silver in the men’s 400m hurdles with a personal best of 42.22s, a much-needed boost after missing out on the 2025 Asian Championships. India’s performance at the Taiwan Open reaffirms the country’s growing strength in middle-distance and field events on the international stage.
