Gumi
India won four medals on the second day of the Asian Athletics Championships 2025 in Gumi, South Korea. Rupal Chaudhary, only 20 years old, gave India its first medal of the day with a silver in the women’s 400m. She ran her personal best time of 52.68 seconds. Another Indian runner, Vithya Ramraj, finished fifth in the same race with 53 seconds.
India's second medal came from Yoonus Shah in the men’s 1500m. He led most of the race but slowed down near the end and took the bronze with a time of 3:43.03.
Pooja brought home India’s third medal, a silver in the women’s 1500m. She gave a strong performance with a time of 4:10.83. Another Indian, Lili Das, finished fourth with 4:13.81.
In the men’s triple jump event, Praveen Chithravel won the silver medal with a jump of 16.90 meters in the third round. China’s Zhu Yaming won gold with a jump of 17.06 meters. Defending champion Abdulla Aboobacker of India missed out and placed fourth with a best jump of 16.72 meters.
In the men’s 400m, Vishal TK ran his personal best of 45.57 seconds but missed out on a bronze medal by just 0.02 seconds.
With one bronze and three silver medals, it was a good day for India at the championship, showing strong performances across track and field events.
