The Indian junior women’s hockey team ended their Four Nations Tournament with a 2-4 loss against Argentina in their last match held in Rosario. Kanika Siwach scored both goals for India in the 11th and 45th minutes.
Argentina started the match strongly, scoring two quick goals in the first quarter. Sol Guignet Gunazu scored in the 5th minute, and Sol Ollala De Labra followed in the 7th. Kanika got one back for India in the 11th minute. However, Argentina responded fast, with Milagros del Valle Alastra scoring in the 13th minute to make it 3-1. Argentina added their fourth goal in the 37th minute through Maxima Duportal. Kanika scored again in the 45th minute, but India couldn’t close the gap further.
Earlier in the tournament, India defeated Uruguay in a shootout after a 2-2 draw. Vice-captain Hina and Lalrinpuii scored during regular time, while Geeta, Kanika, and Lalthantluagi scored in the shootout.
India also lost to Chile in a shootout (1-3) after a 2-2 draw. Sukhveer Kaur and Kanika scored for India.
India began the tour with a 2-1 win over Chile, with goals from Sukhveer Kaur and Kanika. They also defeated Uruguay 3-2 in their second match. Kanika scored twice in the final minutes to secure that win.
India then beat Argentina in a shootout after a 1-1 draw, with Kanika scoring during regular time.
Kanika Siwach was India’s top performer, scoring in five of the six matches played and showing consistent form throughout the tournament.
