India's junior women’s hockey team won a close match against Uruguay, finishing 3-2 in their second game of the Four Nations Tournament in Rosario, Argentina. This victory came after India’s earlier 2-1 win over Chile.
Uruguay took an early lead in the 3rd minute. Milagros Seigal scored from a penalty corner, putting pressure on India. India replied in the second quarter. In the 21st minute, Sonam equalised with a goal from a penalty corner. However, Uruguay quickly bounced back. In the 24th minute, Agustina Mari scored another penalty corner, making it 2-1 for Uruguay.
In the fourth and final quarter, India fought back strongly. Kanika Siwach scored twice—first in the 46th minute through a penalty corner, and then again in the 50th minute with a field goal. These two goals helped India take the lead and win the match.
Kanika Siwach was also the match-winner in India’s first game against Chile. That match ended 2-1 in India’s favour. Chile’s Javeria Saenz had scored in the 20th minute. But India equalised with a goal by Sukhveer Kaur in the 39th minute. Kanika Siwach then scored the winning goal in the 58th minute.
India has now won two matches in this friendly tournament and will next face host country Argentina on Wednesday. The Indian team is showing strong spirit and teamwork, with young players like Kanika Siwach standing out with key performances.
