China’s rising basketball star Yang Hansen announced on Saturday that he will enter the NBA Draft 2025. Speaking to Xinhua, the 19-year-old center called it the most important decision of his life, expressing his dream to showcase his talent on a global stage.
Yang reflected on his experience at the FIBA U19 Men’s Basketball World Cup two years ago, which boosted his confidence. He also gained valuable experience by participating in the NBA Summer League with China’s national team last year.
Currently starring in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) playoffs, Yang helped lead the Qingdao Eagles to the quarterfinals. Although they lost narrowly to the Zhejiang Lions, his performance caught wide attention.
Standing at 2.18 meters, Yang thanked his club and fans for their support, saying he is ready for the next step. In January, Yang signed with Klutch Sports Group, the agency led by Rich Paul, who also represents NBA stars like LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Yang credited Klutch for providing professional coaching and plans to undergo further training in the United States. He emphasized that he is mentally and physically prepared for the challenges ahead.
During the 2024-2025 CBA season, Yang averaged 16.6 points, 10.5 rebounds, three assists, one steal, and 2.6 blocks per game. He led the league in blocks and earned a place in the CBA All-Star starting lineup and the All-CBA Chinese Player First Team.
Yang also impressed during the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers, helping China defeat Mongolia with 13 points and four assists in only 19 minutes.
