Rome: Bologna FC won the Coppa Italia after 51 long years by beating AC Milan 1-0 in the final on Wednesday. This was Bologna’s first Coppa Italia title since the 1973-74 season. The match was intense and filled with early action.
In just three minutes, Milan had a great chance when Rafael Leao made a fast run and crossed the ball, but Jimenez couldn’t score. Bologna quickly responded with a header from Castro, but Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan made a fine save.
In the ninth minute, Bologna’s goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski made two huge saves, stopping a deflection from Miranda and a strong shot from Jovic. The first half ended with no goals.
Early in the second half, Bologna found the winner. Theo Hernandez of Milan tackled Orsolini, and the loose ball fell to Ndoye, who scored with a smart shot. Milan made three changes after the goal, bringing on Walker, Joao Felix, and Gimenez to boost their attack.
Bologna also made changes to protect their lead. Milan struggled to break through Bologna’s defense, and despite trying long shots, Bologna could not add another goal. The score stayed 1-0 until the final whistle.
Coach Vincenzo Italiano was filled with joy after finally winning a big trophy. He said this was his happiest moment in football, both as a player and as a coach. He praised the team for their hard work.
AC Milan’s coach Sergio Conceicao was disappointed with the result. He said the team must learn from the match and focus on finishing the season strongly with their last two league games.
