Mumbai Open 2025: MSLTA to host

The fourth edition of the Mumbai Open, hosted by the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA) at the Cricket Club of India (CCI), promises an action-packed week of tennis. The tournament will kick off on February 1 with the qualifying rounds, followed by the main draw starting on February 3. The finals are scheduled for February 9.

Top Contenders in the WTA 125 Tournament

The event will feature some top-ranked players, including Tatjana Maria (World No. 89), who is aiming for her fourth singles title. Maria reached a career-high ranking of No. 42 after a semi-final appearance at Wimbledon in 2022. Also in the mix is Rebecca Marino of Canada (World No. 98), gunning for her second WTA singles title after winning the Dow Tennis Classic in November 2024.

Rising Stars and Future Champions

19-year-old Alexandra Eala from the Philippines, trained at Rafael Nadal's academy, is one to watch. Eala, ranked 138, is the highest-ranked Filipino player in history. Another promising player is Petra Marcinko, former World No. 1 Junior, and Croatian talent Jil Teichmann, who has secured multiple WTA titles.

Defending Champion and Returning Players

Last year’s Mumbai Open singles champion, Latvia’s Darja Semenistaja (World No. 120), will return to defend her title. Harriet Dart (World No. 113) and Kristina Mladenovic (World No. 215), a former World No. 1 in doubles, will also compete.
