The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has strongly condemned what it calls a “malicious political conspiracy” by the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) over the tragic death of Cheeli Singayya during YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s recent tour in Palnadu district.

In a press statement issued on Sunday, the party accused the NDA of exploiting a tragic accident for political mileage. “Unable to digest the overwhelming public support during Mr. Jagan’s district tours, the ruling coalition is resorting to vindictive tactics—harassing our leaders, filing false cases, and politicising accidents,” the YSRCP said.

The party highlighted the immediate response from its leaders. Prathipadu YSRCP in-charge Kiran Kumar rushed to the hospital and supported the bereaved family. Senior leader Ambati Rambabu and district leaders like Kommu Kanakaraju also visited the family and extended condolences, including a ₹10 lakh financial aid.

The District Superintendent of Police clarified that the vehicle involved in the accident was a privately owned one, unrelated to Mr. Jagan’s convoy. The driver and owner were identified and questioned, confirming the convoy’s non-involvement.

Despite this, the NDA released a video four days later, attempting to falsely link Mr. Jagan to the incident. YSRCP also alleged repeated lapses in Mr. Jagan’s Z-plus security cover, citing earlier incidents in Rapthadu and Podili. Calling the incident part of a deliberate political strategy, the YSRCP warned that such character attacks and security negligence were not only insensitive but dangerously orchestrated.
