YSRCP leader M Vishnu condemned the TDP-led government’s decision to lease temple lands without public auction, calling it a cultural betrayal. He said the policy permits leasing temple lands for up to 33 years at very low rates, bypassing court rules ensuring transparency and fairness.

Vishnu accused the government of misusing temple assets under the guise of charity and ignoring legal protections. He highlighted that out of over 4 lakh acres managed by the Endowments department, only about 1 lakh acres generate income, while 87,000 acres are encroached.

Recalling similar controversies during the previous TDP term, Vishnu alleged the current decision lacked cabinet approval and aimed to hand over valuable temple lands to select groups without accountability. He vowed YSRCP would pursue legal action to prevent misuse. The TDP has not responded yet.
