The Delhi Police's Special Cell has successfully dismantled an interstate firearms trafficking syndicate, apprehending three key members, including the manufacturer. The operation led to the recovery of 11 semi-automatic pistols. The arrested individuals, identified as Vimal Kumar (19) from Prayagraj, Sumit Kumar (19) from Prayagraj, and Amarjeet Singh (35) from Khargone, MP, were responsible for procuring firearms from Madhya Pradesh and distributing them to criminals in Delhi/NCR and Uttar Pradesh.
After four months of intensive efforts, the police received specific information on December 4, 2023, indicating that Vimal Kumar and Sumit Kumar had obtained a consignment of pistols from Khargone, MP, intending to deliver them to a Delhi-based arms trafficker near the Pul Prahladpur underpass, M.B. Road, New Delhi. A team led by Inspector Ranjeet Singh conducted a successful raid and apprehended the duo, recovering 10 semi-automatic pistols. Interrogation revealed that the firearms were sourced from Amarjeet of Khargone at Rs. 8,000 per pistol, sold to criminals in Delhi/NCR and other states at Rs. 25,000 per pistol. The accused disclosed the supply of over 50 firearms in the past two years. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Amarjeet Singh at Nizamuddin railway station on December 5, 2023, with the recovery of one semi-automatic pistol. Amarjeet, with a ten-year history in illegal firearm manufacturing, had previous involvement in a similar case registered under the Arms Act in Indore, MP (FIR No. 294/2020).
