Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday inaugurated the Google Safety Engineering Centre (GSEC) in Hyderabad, positioning the state as a leading global destination for digital investment and cybersecurity innovation.

The Hyderabad GSEC is Google’s first such facility in the Asia-Pacific region and only the fourth in the world. Lauding the initiative, the Chief Minister stated that the centre will not only bolster cybersecurity but also focus on employment generation and skill development, enhancing India’s digital resilience.

Speaking at the event, Revanth Reddy said Telangana is moving ahead with the vision of ‘Telangana Rising’ and aims to become a one trillion-dollar economy by 2035. He emphasized the growing importance of digital security in the modern economy, stating, Since our economy, government and daily lives are advancing with digital technology, we will grow further through digital security.

Highlighting Google’s role in transforming digital lives, Reddy praised its corporate ethos of Do No Evil and compared it with his government’s commitment to long-term public welfare through innovation and integrity. He urged Google to become a brand ambassador for ‘Telangana Rising’ and sought its support in enhancing youth employability and skills.

The Chief Minister recalled that Google’s first India office was established in Hyderabad in 2007 during Congress rule. Today, with over 7,000 employees, it hosts Google’s largest campus outside the U.S.

He also noted that the state has ongoing collaborations with Google in key sectors such as education, security, mapping, health, and startups. Stressing the need for job-ready graduates, he highlighted the role of the newly established Young India Skills University, led by industrialist Anand Mahindra, in bridging the skills gap for over 1.10 lakh engineering students graduating each year in the state.
