On Tuesday, President Droupadi Murmu received the credentials of four foreign envoys during a formal ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. This marks the official start of their diplomatic roles in India. The diplomats included Francisco Manuel Compres Hernandez, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic; Karlito Nunes, Ambassador of Timor-Leste; Pradeepa Mahishini Colonne, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka; and Guy Rodrigue Dikayi, High Commissioner of Gabon.

Such ceremonies are an important part of diplomatic protocol, allowing newly appointed envoys to formally present their credentials and begin their work in India. The event reflects India’s commitment to building and strengthening international relations through diplomatic engagement.

Earlier this year, on May 29, President Murmu also received credentials from the envoys of six other nations. These included Chavanart Thangsumphant, Ambassador of Thailand; Nestor Gabriel Baltodano Vargas, Ambassador of Costa Rica; Gurdip Bath, High Commissioner of Saint Kitts and Nevis; Ali Murat Ersoy, Ambassador of Turkey; M Riaz Hamidullah, High Commissioner of Bangladesh; and Azamat Yeskaraev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan.

Additionally, on February 20, the President accepted credentials from five more diplomats. They were Alonso Correa Miguel, Ambassador of Panama; Dharamkumar Seeraj, High Commissioner of Guyana; Mohammed Abdalla Ali Eltom, Ambassador of Sudan; Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, Ambassador of Denmark; and Abdullah Mohammad A. Abushawesh, Ambassador of Palestine.

These official engagements at Rashtrapati Bhavan highlight India’s active diplomatic ties with countries across different regions. Welcoming foreign ambassadors and high commissioners through credential ceremonies strengthens mutual cooperation and opens new opportunities for collaboration in areas such as trade, education, and cultural exchange.
