New Delhi
On Thursday, several opposition MPs staged a protest in Parliament, holding placards that together read desh bikne nahin denge (we will not let the country be sold) while demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) investigation into the Adani issue. This protest is part of a series of daily demonstrations led by the Congress.
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with MPs from Congress, DMK, and Left parties, stood at the Makar Dwar steps and Samvidhan Sadan, raising slogans against the alleged collusion between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and industrialist Gautam Adani. They called for a thorough probe into the matter.
Earlier in the week, opposition MPs had greeted BJP counterparts with tricolours and red roses, urging the ruling party to allow discussions on the Adani issue. The protests, including the mock interview conducted by Rahul Gandhi with masks of Modi and Adani, have been ongoing since the start of the Winter session. The Congress has called for a JPC probe, citing Adani’s recent indictment in a US court, and Rahul Gandhi has demanded his immediate arrest. The Adani Group has denied all allegations, calling them baseless.
