Former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi has sparked a political controversy by accusing the ruling JD(U)-BJP alliance of plotting to murder her son, Tejashwi Yadav, ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. Rabri claimed that there had been two to four prior attempts on Tejashwi's life. Once, a truck even tried to run over his vehicle, she alleged.
Referring to the recent clash in the assembly, where ruling party MLAs reportedly charged at Tejashwi, Rabri said, “they want to eliminate him to stop him from contesting elections. This is a conspiracy, and the JD(U)-BJP alliance is behind it.”
Tejashwi, the former Deputy CM and current Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, is a key face of the I.N.D.I.A. bloc in the state.
Rabri also hit out at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, comparing his reaction to black clothes worn by opposition MLAs to a bull provoked by red. What did we do wrong? Schoolchildren saw everything. Let the government prove any misconduct, she said.
Outside the assembly, Rabri led a protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and condemned the alleged aggressive behaviour of NDA MLAs.
When asked about Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary’s criticism of Tejashwi, Rabri lashed out, calling him a childhood goon and accusing JD(U)-BJP leaders of being vermin.
In response, BJP leaders Vijay Kumar Sinha and Ashok Choudhary condemned her remarks, with Sinha calling them typical of RJD and Choudhary suggesting she needed better sense.
