Sambhal
District Magistrate Rajender Pensiya announced on June 3 that sacrificial slaughter during Bakrid will be allowed only at 19 designated sites in Sambhal. Public or open spaces are strictly off-limits for animal sacrifice. This decision came after a peace committee meeting with local representatives to ensure smooth arrangements.
Pensiya emphasized that slaughter of prohibited animals has been banned for years, with no incidents in the last five years. The administration is preparing for peaceful Eid prayers, ensuring water, electricity, and sanitation at prayer sites. Religious leaders have been asked to finish sacrifices by 3 pm from June 7 to June 9.
The DM warned that around 900-950 individuals are under preventive watch, and any disturbance will face strict legal action. He also urged people not to post videos of animal sacrifice on social media to maintain peace and respect community sentiments.
