Madhya Pradesh's Higher Education Minister, Inder Singh Parmar, criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his patriotism on Monday. Parmar questioned Gandhi's loyalty to India, stating that a son born to a foreign woman cannot be considered a true patriot. He specifically responded to Gandhi's comment about fighting against the Indian state, calling it anti-national and accusing the Congress leadership of being confused about whether to support or oppose the country.
Parmar drew a historical parallel, referencing Chandragupta Maurya and Chanakya, saying that just as the son of a foreign woman couldn’t rule Magadh, a similar principle applies to patriotism. His remarks were made in response to Gandhi's recent statement, in which he claimed that the BJP and RSS have seized control of all major institutions, positioning himself and the Congress against the Indian state.
This controversy comes just days before Rahul Gandhi is set to visit Madhya Pradesh on January 27 to launch Congress's 'Jai Babu, Jai Bhim and Jai Samvidhan' campaign. In response, the BJP has planned its own 'Samvidhan Gaurav Diwas' campaign, with senior party leaders like Amit Shah and Nitin Gadkari scheduled to visit the state.
