Senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar has raised questions over the effectiveness of India’s global diplomatic efforts following the recent Pahalgam terror attack. Speaking in an interview on Saturday, Aiyar said that, except for Israel, no other country had explicitly blamed Pakistan for the incident.
Referring to ‘Operation Sindoor’, in which leaders from various Indian political parties, including Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, visited multiple nations to present India’s case, Aiyar said the outreach failed to achieve tangible results.
Shashi Tharoor and his friends can roam around as much as they want, but apart from Israel, no one else said that Pakistan was behind the Pahalgam terror attack. Everyone is condemning the terrorism, but no one is willing to blame Pakistan.
He highlighted that the UN Security Council’s statement after the attack condemned terrorism but did not name Pakistan. Only we claim that Pakistan is responsible. We are not able to present any evidence or name the Pakistani agency involved. The world is not accepting what India is saying, he added.
Aiyar also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s frequent foreign trips, questioning their impact. He further pointed to US President Donald Trump’s assertions about mediating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, noting that while Islamabad acknowledged it, New Delhi denied any such mediation. Pakistan is getting all the benefits, and we are facing the punishment, Aiyar remarked.
