India has voiced serious concern over the recent conflict between Iran and Israel, urging both nations to exercise restraint and avoid any escalation. In a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday, India stressed the importance of using diplomatic channels to resolve tensions. We are closely monitoring the situation, including reports of attacks on nuclear facilities, the MEA said.
India called on both sides to step back from military actions and focus on dialogue. Existing channels of communication should be used to bring down tensions and address the root causes. India has friendly relations with both countries and is ready to offer any support needed for peace, the statement noted.
The MEA also mentioned that Indian embassies in both countries are in touch with the Indian community. All Indian nationals in the region have been advised to stay alert and follow local safety guidelines.
This statement came after Israel carried out a preemptive airstrike on Iran, according to Israel's Defence Minister Israel Katz. He announced a state of emergency across Israel, warning of a potential missile and drone retaliation from Iran. Katz urged citizens to follow security instructions and remain in protected areas.
Sirens were activated across Israel, signaling what officials called a new situation. Although no attack had occurred yet, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) warned of a possible major strike from Iran involving long-range missiles.
Israel's air campaign, named Nation of Lions, reportedly targeted multiple sites linked to Iran’s nuclear program. The IDF claimed Iran is capable of producing nuclear weapons within days and said immediate action was necessary to prevent that threat.
