Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Saturday unveiled the Gujarat Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy-2025 (GECMS-2025), a forward-looking initiative aimed at attracting investments exceeding ₹35,000 crore while creating a high-skilled workforce to power India’s electronics future. The policy aligns with the Centre’s Electronics Components and Semiconductors (ECMS) scheme, offering 100% top-up incentives for projects approved by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

Under GECMS-2025, Gujarat will release its share of financial incentives within 30 working days after the Centre disburses its part, ensuring swift benefit delivery to investors. The policy targets strategic components of the electronics supply chain, such as multi-layer and HDI printed circuit boards (PCBs), lithium-ion battery cells, surface mount devices (SMDs), camera and display modules, and specialised machinery.

With an aim to reduce dependence on imports and boost upstream manufacturing, the state intends to integrate more deeply into global electronics value chains. Gujarat already hosts four semiconductor fabrication units, and this policy is expected to enhance its prominence in India’s tech-driven industrial growth.

The policy also focuses on innovation and skill development. Matching grants of up to ₹12.5 crore will be offered to academic and research institutions to set up Centres of Excellence, Applied Research Labs, and Finishing Schools—preparing a future-ready workforce. Implementation will be overseen by the Gujarat State Electronics Mission (GSEM). Investors must submit applications by July 31. Notably, GECMS-2025 benefits will not overlap with incentives under the Gujarat Electronics Policy 2022-28, ensuring clarity and avoiding duplication of support.
