A team of government doctors visited the private hospital where former Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan is being treated after a cardiac arrest. The seven-member team from Government Medical College reviewed the treatment based on special instructions from the state government, according to the latest medical bulletin released on Tuesday.
The 101-year-old leader remains in critical condition and continues to receive ventilator support, CRRT, and antibiotics. Doctors will adjust treatment as needed. CPI(M) leader M.A. Baby, who visited him in the morning, said Achuthanandan is showing some positive response to the medicines.
Achuthanandan has been admitted to the ICU since last week, and a team of specialists is closely monitoring his health. He has faced age-related health issues in recent years and has stayed away from public life.
A founding member of the CPI(M) in 1964, he is known for his lifelong work for social justice and served as Kerala’s Chief Minister from 2006 to 2011.
