The Central government on Sunday said it is ready to discuss all issues raised by the Opposition during the upcoming Monsoon session of Parliament. At an all-party meeting held a day before the session’s commencement, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju emphasized that the government seeks cooperation for the smooth functioning of Parliament.
Rijiju assured that the government will respond appropriately to questions raised about U.S. President Donald Trump’s claims of brokering a ceasefire during Operation Sindoor. He also said the government is open to discussions in line with parliamentary rules and traditions.
Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address key national concerns, including the Pahalgam terror attack, border tensions, and the special intensive revision (SIR) of voter rolls in Bihar. “It is the Prime Minister’s moral duty to speak in Parliament on these issues,” Gogoi said. AAP MP Sanjay Singh demanded clarity on Trump’s ceasefire remarks and criticized the demolition of slums in Delhi. He also alleged an ongoing electoral scam in Bihar linked to the SIR exercise.
BJD’s Sasmit Patra raised alarm over the deteriorating law and order in Odisha, citing two recent incidents—one involving a college student’s self-immolation and another where a teenager was set ablaze. Leaders from Congress, AAP, DMK, NCP, BJD, and others attended the meeting. The session will also witness debates on the government’s foreign policy and eight new bills, including the new Income Tax Bill, scheduled to be tabled in the Lok Sabha on July 21.
