On Wednesday, security forces arrested four associates of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist group in the Tral area of Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir. The arrests were made in the Awantipora police jurisdiction, which falls under the Pulwama revenue district.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Mudasir Ahmad Naik, Umar Nazir Sheikh, Inayat Firdoos Rather, and Salman Nazir Lone. They were found in possession of incriminating materials linked to the banned JeM group. The police stated that these individuals were involved in providing logistical support and transporting arms and ammunition to active terrorists in the Tral and Awantipora areas.

A case has been registered at the Tral Police Station, and investigations are ongoing. Security forces have intensified operations targeting terrorists, Over Ground Workers (OGWs), and sympathizers to dismantle the terror network in the region.

These operations come in response to recent attacks following the peaceful Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly elections in J&K, which saw high voter turnout. Intelligence reports suggest that the peaceful conduct of these elections has led to frustration among terror handlers across the border in Pakistan, who are pushing for a final attempt to escalate violence in the region.
