Five migrant workers from Odisha were killed and 16 others injured in a tragic road accident in Telangana's Suryapet district on Friday. The incident took place near Ilapuram in Chivvemla block, when a private bus carrying the workers crashed into a stationary truck. The bus driver reportedly failed to notice the truck parked by the roadside, leading to the collision.

Authorities are investigating whether a tyre burst caused the crash, with some witnesses stating that the driver lost control after the tyre burst, while others believe it occurred after the collision. The victims, who were from Rayagada in Odisha, were en route to Hyderabad in search of work.

Four people died at the scene, and one succumbed to injuries at the hospital. The injured were taken to the Government General Hospital in Suryapet for treatment. The bus, which was carrying 32 passengers, was severely damaged. The crash caused a traffic jam on the Suryapet-Khammam highway, with police using a crane to clear the bus.

The incident has raised concerns about accidents caused by parked vehicles on highways, which have been frequent in recent months, especially during night hours. Motorists are urging authorities to take action to prevent such incidents. Additionally, a road collapse in Hyderabad on the same day narrowly missed a crusher lorry driver.
