The Telangana government has disbursed ₹8,284.66 crore to 67.01 lakh farmers under the Rythu Bharosa investment support scheme, according to Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao. On Monday alone, ₹513.83 crore was credited into the accounts of farmers owning up to 15 acres of land.
The scheme, launched in January this year, provides annual financial assistance of ₹2,000 per acre of cultivable land in two instalments—aligned with the cropping seasons. It replaced the previous Rythu Bandhu scheme, under which farmers received ₹10,000 per acre annually.
The crediting of funds began on June 12 as part of the rainy season investment support. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had announced that ₹9,000 crore would be deposited into farmers’ bank accounts within nine days. On the first day, the benefits were transferred to farmers with up to two acres of land.
To mark the completion of the latest disbursement phase, a special meeting will be held on Tuesday at the Rajiv Gandhi statue in front of the State Secretariat. The event will be attended by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and other ministers.
Minister Rao emphasized the government’s commitment to making farmers self-reliant, declaring, “The farmer should be treated like a king.” He added that the government had already waived ₹21,000 crore in farm loans for 25 lakh farmers, calling it the second-largest farm loan waiver after the ₹70,000 crore waived during Manmohan Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister. The Initiative is seen as a major step toward strengthening agricultural support in Telangana.
