P V Anvar, state convener of the All India Trinamool Congress, has accused Left leaders of sending their workers to attack him and UDF activists. He warned of retaliation if such attacks continue.
His statement followed UDF’s takeover of the Chungathara panchayat from the LDF on Tuesday. Anvar, who has been openly supporting UDF, has yet to be formally accepted into its fold.
In a video aired on Wednesday, the former Nilambur MLA alleged that Left leaders provide alcohol and drugs to their workers before sending them to attack opponents. “If you do this, we will come to your homes and smash your heads. So, take care of your own health,” he warned.
He further accused the Left of suppressing people through violence but asserted that his response would target those responsible for orchestrating attacks. The Left has not yet responded to his allegations.
Anvar stated that he does not engage in politics from behind the scenes but leads from the front. He also blamed the alleged threats against him and his supporters on "Pinarayism," referring to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s political approach.
After breaking ties with the LDF, Anvar joined AITC and resigned as MLA, triggering a bypoll in Nilambur. He has declared that he will not contest the bypoll and has pledged support to the UDF.
