46,631 Kashmiri Migrant Families Migrated From Valley Due To Security Reasons

In a written reply to Lok Sabha MP Kalaben Mohanbhai Delkar, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai provided information on the status of Kashmiri migrants. According to data from the Government of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, 46,631 Kashmiri migrant families, comprising 1,57,967 individuals, are registered with the Relief Organisation (Migrant), J-K, due to security reasons. Additionally, some Kashmiri migrant families have relocated to other parts of the country.

To facilitate the rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants, including the 5,675 who have been provided government employment, the government has undertaken various measures. For those receiving government employment in the Kashmir valley, 6,000 transit accommodation units are being constructed, with 880 flats already completed. In August 2021, the Jammu and Kashmir government launched an online portal for Kashmiri migrants to address grievances related to encroachment, change of title, mutation, and distress sale. The initiative has resulted in the retrieval of 2924 Kanals and 19.55 Marlas of land.

Furthermore, the government issued ration cards to Kashmiri migrant families without them and provided Ayushman Sehat Cards to those registered for domicile certificates. Social security benefits, such as Ladli Beti and marriage assistance, were extended to Kashmiri migrant families. Online services for registration and certificate issuance have seen the issuance of 160,856 domicile certificates, 2,035 Resident of Backward Area certificates, 902 EWS certificates, and 31,672 migrant certificates.
