Sitaare Zameen Par, starring Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh, has seen an impressive rise at the global box office, collecting ₹50 crore in just two days. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film is being hailed as the spiritual successor to Taare Zameen Par and has resonated strongly with audiences both in India and abroad.
According to trade portal Sacnilk, the film earned ₹30.90 crore net and ₹37 crore gross domestically, with an additional ₹13 crore coming from overseas markets. The film recorded a massive 88.79% jump in collections on Saturday, nearly doubling its ₹10.7 crore net opening in India.
The sports comedy has already surpassed the lifetime collections of Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency (₹23.75 crore) and is expected to overtake Shahid Kapoor’s Deva (₹55.8 crore) by the end of the weekend. For comparison, Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2 earned ₹30 crore worldwide in its first two days.
Sitaare Zameen Par follows the story of a disgraced basketball coach who is court-mandated to train a team of neurodivergent players, exploring themes of redemption, acceptance, and teamwork. The film also marks the debut of several young actors including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishnan Varma, and Vedant Sharmaa. Celebrating the success, actor Riteish Deshmukh shared a heartfelt message for wife Genelia on social media, calling her his pride. Genelia responded with an equally touching message, expressing gratitude for her family’s support. The film continues to draw strong word-of-mouth and is poised for a strong Sunday performance.
