Despite actor Unni Mukundan stepping away from the Marco franchise, Cubes Entertainments has confirmed that Marco 2 is still under discussion. The studio responded to a fan on social media who urged them to either proceed with the sequel or sell the rights. In reply, the producers clarified that the journey of Marco isn’t over.

They wrote, Discussions regarding the Marco series are still not over. Cubes Entertainments exclusively holds the rights, and we believe the story holds immense potential. We are not open to transferring or sharing these rights. This clear message has reignited hope among fans.

Marco, directed by Haneef Adeni, was a massive Malayalam hit, grossing over ₹100 crore and making waves across India. Known for its gritty action and intense storytelling, it became one of the most talked-about films and was even labeled the most violent Indian film.

Earlier, Unni Mukundan had disappointed fans by announcing his exit from the sequel. He cited too much negativity surrounding the project and stated he had dropped plans to return as Marco. He added that he would aim to bring something even bigger in the future.

Though Mukundan’s exit had many believing the sequel was shelved, the studio’s latest update confirms that Marco 2 is still a possibility. Whether it continues with a new lead or a different direction, the makers are determined to keep the story alive. For fans of the intense action thriller, this is a glimmer of hope that the franchise still has more to offer.
